CSCP staff participated in COVID-19 emergency response in 2021, as did nearly everyone at CDPH. We are proud to share these significant program milestones CSCP achieved despite challenges:
  • Completed the CAPABLE Project, a three-year collaboration between a diverse group of community partners and researchers. The first journal article was published and the second is forthcoming.
  • Implemented the Cosmetic Fragrance and Flavor Ingredients Right to Know Act of 2020 (CFFIRKA/SB312). You can now search the California Safe Cosmetics Product Database for fragrance and flavor ingredients. Dozens of newly reportable products are being reported daily.
  • Added 97 new cosmetics company accounts in the California Safe Cosmetics Reporting Portal and 5,998 products were reported in compliance with the California Safe Cosmetics Act and CFFIRKA in 2021; this represents a 388% and 233% increase over 2020, respectively. You can query and download more data in the Product Database.
  • Gave six presentations on the California Safe Cosmetics Product Database and our projects to a variety of audiences, including industry groups, consumers, and researchers.
Thank you to our partners, CDPH leadership and legal counsel, safe cosmetics advocates, and industry leaders who contributed to these efforts. We look forward to sharing more achievements with you in 2022.
