The second CAPABLE paper, “Chemicals of Concern in Personal Care Products Used by Women of Color in Three Communities of California,” was published online in the Journal of Exposure Science & Environmental Epidemiology in early November and is available for free download. Read CSCP Chief, Dr. Paula Johnson’s accompanying blog post about the project’s background and findings.

The CAPABLE Project is a community-partnered collaboration between the California Healthy Nail Salon Collaborative, the California Safe Cosmetics Program, CHAMACOS (Center for the Health Assessment of Mothers and Children of Salinas), CERCH (Center for Environmental Research & Children's Health), and the Healthy Heritage Movement. This study is one of the first detailed assessments of chemicals of concern found in cosmetic products used by Asian, Black, and Latina women.
